Tablas Creek

The 2010 Patelin de Tablas marries the spice, mineral and structure of Syrah with the generous fruit of Grenache, the backbone of Mourvedre and the brightness of Counoise. Drink it now or over the next decade.

Wine Spectator

Serves up a pleasing mix of ripe, vibrant watermelon, supple black and red licorice, wild berry, grilled meat and sanguine flavors. Full-bodied, complex and layered, with lots of berry flavors on the finish. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Counoise. Drink now through 2018. 4,900 cases made.

Score: 91. —James Laube, 2011.

International Wine Cellar

(39% syrah, 36% grenache, 22% mourvedre and 3% counoise): Bright purple. Highly expressive aromas of raspberry, mulberry and licorice, with a spicy overtone. Juicy and focused, offering lively, focused flavors of red fruits and anise complicated by a touch of bitter chocolate. Finishes clean and nervy, with lingering raspberry and violet notes.

Score: 90. —Josh Raynolds, October 01, 2011.
