Cuvee Juveniles is a bold and seductive unoaked blend that represents a youthful wine made from old vines. Fruit from dry grown, low yielding vines is fermented, bottled and released early.

A noteworthy buy is the 2004 Juveniles, which represents Torbreckês version of a Barossa Valley Cotes du Rhone on steroids. A 6,000-case, tank-fermented and aged blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, and 20% Shiraz, it exhibits peppery, sweet blackberry and cassis fruit, kirsch liqueur, and spice box aromas. A sexy, heady wine with loads of glycerin, medium to full body, a silky texture, and a meaty, long finish, it should drink well for 2-4 years.
David Powell, unquestionably one of the worldês finest wine producers, has an uncanny ability to discover old vine Barossa vineyards, and then secure long term contracts for their fruit. It is amazing that such high quality sources have not already been plucked by Australiaês giant wine corporations. Torbreckês wines continue to get better and better, combining the old vine ripe fruit of Barossa with a European sensitivity to elegance and balance. The finest wines in this portfolio are pricy, but David Powell delivers some remarkable reds and whites at prices that are more than fair for the quality in the bottle.

Biodynamic designation is regulated by Demeter, an international certification organization. Biodynamic agriculture is based on the view of a farm as a self-contained organism. Certified organic vineyards must meet Demeter"s additional criteria for a period of one year before earning the designation "biodynamic."
Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
