Bodegas Breca Breca 2015
#29 - Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2018
The wine is characterized by aromas of ripe black fruit, overlaid with spices such as black pepper.
Wine SpectatorRound, smooth and dense, this red shows harmony and balance. Plum and blackberry flavors mingle with black olive, toast and mineral notes, supported by well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity, leaving a lovely floral finish. Drink now through 2027. 20,000 cases made
James SucklingSweet, yet delicate raspberry-liqueur nose. Almost opulent, but the ripe fruit and fresh acidity carry the widescreen body well. Long, supple finish. Drink now or hold.
Jeb DunnuckThe 2015 Breca comes from vines planted all before 1940. It was destemmed and aged 18 months in mostly used puncheons and demi-muids. This sexy, forward effort offers loads of blueberry, violets, scrub brush, flowers, and chocolate. Full-bodied, fresh and lively on the palate, with bright acidity and firm, yet fine tannin, it has loads of character and a distinct, rocky minerality. It will be better this time next year, and drink nicely for 7-8 years.
