Cristom Viognier 2013

Cristom Viognier 2013

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

The Cristom Estate Viognier exhibits the pure, and nearly textbook, characteristics of this varietal, with aromas of orange blossoms, honeysuckle, clover and anise as well as the ripe fruit aromas of peach, apricot, and lychee. Round and viscous on the palate, the wine is drier than the exotic fruits on the nose would lead you to believe. The attendant alcohol of this varietal is very well integrated in this perfectly balanced wine. Bright and mouth-watering acidity support the fruit superstructure of this wine.

Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Viognier Estate is barrel fermented in used barrels and stainless-steel drums, using both inoculated and native yeast and this vintage went completely through malolactic. It has a delicate, wet wool and apricot blossom bouquet that is nicely understated and well defined. Conversely, the palate is terse and spicy on the entry, with racy acidity and resinous in style. It does not quite convey the exuberant and showy predilection of the grape variety, although there is a pleasant Szechuan pepper note on the aftertaste. It just leaves me wanting more.
