Casa de Santar Dao Tinto 2010

SKU 5603488000033

Brilliant ruby color with aromas of red fruits like berries and prunes. Balanced and smooth in the palate with a pleasing lingering finish. The Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Tinta Roriz grapes in this wine are all grown on the Estate. With a ruby red color, this wine has a fruit and oak aroma. Structured and elegant, it has a long and silky finish.

Wine SpectatorA refined and well-crafted red, with concentrated flavors of dried cherry, red raspberry and currant, supported by fleshy, medium-grained tannins. Delivers a long finish of tar, spice and smoke. Drink now through 2020. 26,000 cases made.

Wine AdvocateThe 2010 Tinto (Casa de Santar) is a blend of Touriga Nacional (35%), Alfrocheiro (30%) and Tinta Roriz (35%), aged for 6 months in American oak. Despite the American oak (only 35% new, though), it seems rather clean and fresh, solid in its way but a good example of regional sensibilities. Bright and somewhat tightly wound at the moment, it is a charming Santar Tinto that gradually opens and becomes fruitier. It seems invariably to be a good bargain - in so many vintages it seems like a "can't miss" buy. Tasty, well balanced and reasonably well structured, it is quite charming. Drink now-2019.
