Château-Soleil Puisseguin Saint-Emilion 2009
Wine SpectatorThis isn't shy about its toast, with espresso and licorice snap notes leading the way, but there's vibrant acidity driving the sweet plum and fig fruit along, with a good mineral twinge on the finish. Drink now. 8,720 cases made.
Wine AdvocateSoleil, from the backwater satellite appellation of Puisseguin St. Emilion, has turned out a soft, round, consumer-friendly 2009 with lots of strawberry and black cherry fruit as well as hints of underbrush and cedar. It is a sexy, full-throttle, silky smooth wine to drink over the next 3-4 years. The final blend was 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the consultant here is Stefan von Neipperg.
