Quinta do Crasto Douro Tinto 2015
|Brand||Quinta do Crasto|
Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Tinto is a blend of 35% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz, 25% Touriga Franca and 10% Tinta Barroca, aged for six months in mostly used (only 5% new) French oak. This is simply delicious, a fine statement on how I think the 2015s are going to show. The vivid and lifted fruit is gorgeous. It dances over the tongue, seeming quite lively while packed with flavor. What it does not have, to be sure, is much concentration or structure. It is drinking pretty well right now--and it is hard to resist. This has some obvious limitations and I will not guarantee you that it stays at this peak for all of its useful life, but it has enough stuffing to age a little, even if it is best used young. (Personally, I'd hate to lose that delicious fruit, currently fresh and glorious.) It is so exuberant now that it is worth leaning up on it. Drink it young and drink it a little cool.
Wine SpectatorWild blackberry and currant notes show grilled herb and minerally underpinnings in this medium-bodied, spicy red. Integrated tannins give texture to the smoky finish. Drink now through 2021. 33,333 cases made.
