Zorzal Gran Terroir Malbec 2018
|Region||Argentina, Mendoza, Tupungato|
There is no oak now in the 2018 Gran Terroir Malbec, but it matured in well-seasoned French oak barrels for 12 to 15 months. This is a great example of the minerality of Gualtallary, a texture, a chalky mouthfeel that makes the wine tasty, long and serious, which is something very difficult to find at this price level and in this volume. Great work. 40,000 bottles produced.
A 100% Malbec from Gualtallary aged in used barrels. Made in an elemental style that Zorzal has been working on for years, it begins with fresh plum notes and hints of violet and orange zest that go rather well together. Very pure in the mouth; tense and juicy, with a chalky feel and a lollipop tackiness that makes the wine stick to the mouth. Will grow in the bottle.
