Gehricke Russian River Valley Zinfandel 2016
The 2016 Russian River Valley Zinfandel is a blend of old vine Zinfandel and a touch of Petite Sirah from the orange, iron-rich soil of Ponzo Vineyard. The Zinfandel on its own is fruity and jammy and Petite Sirah brings in complementary dark fruit flavors and density, resulting in a blend that is full-bodied and well-structured. Powerful spice aromas of cracked cinnamon sticks and black peppercorns mingle with ripe plum aromas and hints of mint chocolate. This full-bodied wine is soft on entry with a texture similar to that of milk chocolate. Ripe plums, cherry cordials and black currants show through on a rich and supple palate. The finish is long and persistent, embodied by dark fruits and baking spices.

Spring Mountain Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015The 2015 vintage was one of our earliest, bookended by cold, wet weather in the spring that impacted fruit-set and by a warm, dry ripening season in the fall. Crop size was smaller overall, but quality was excellent. We had very small berries and loose clusters that led to even ripening and intensely concentrated flavors. There was a great skin to juice ratio that favored high-quality tannin extraction and concentration. The wines from 2015 show a good balance between freshness and power.
