Mer Soleil Reserve Pinot Noir 2017
It was only natural that we would make a Pinot Noir in addition to Chardonnay. The Santa Lucia Highlands is well-known as the perfect home for both these varietals. Grapes ripen slowly, enabling us to make wine of heightened complexity, with layers of aromas and flavors. We named Mer Soleil after the two forces of nature - the sea and sun - that shape this singular character, and they are every bit as powerful in creating our Pinot as our Chardonnay.

Elouan Pinot Noir 2016Rich, dark and intense fruit flavors take top billing in this 2016 Elouan Pinot Noir, a wine that beautifully reflects the warm and dry growing season. Dark ruby in color, the wine powers up with aromatics of plum pie, mixed-berry jam and smoky, game-bird characteristics that set the stage for flavors of cherry, blackberry, boysenberry and smoked bacon. The balance is excellent, with solid structure, superb depth and concentration, rich tannins, and a nice smoky, earthy finish.
Patricia Green Reserve Pinot Noir 2017This wine has some weight and density that belies its price point but at the same time has a beautiful red-fruited tone to it. There is also a bit more use of new barrels on this wine if for no other reason than that these wines were more than capable of handling that sort of structural and flavor component without it intruding aggressively into the nature of the wine. There will, of course, be some spice and barrel tannin, but this wine has way more than enough guts and stuffing to handle the 33% new barrel with 51% of the barrels being completely neutral there is a balancing yin to the yang.
The Four Graces Pinot Noir 2017The 2017 Pinot Noir showcases a beautiful ruby hue in the glass. Pleasant aromas of raspberry, Bing cherry and hints of earthy forest floor mingle. The palate exudes bright red fruit flavors of cherry and cranberry which are complemented by a focused mid palate of black pepper and light roasted coffee beans. The finish crisp with a perfectly balanced acidity.
Frédéric Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur 2017Esmonin is becoming one of the most consistent, high quality producers in Gevrey. After a short cold maceration gives the wines an extra dimension of fruit, they are aged in carefully selected French oak barrels of Allier and Nevers forest wood made by Radoux and Berthomieu, two of the very best coopers. Wines are aged in barrels of varying age and toast and then blended in order to achieve optimum balance and complexity.
