Powerful and well-constituted wine, a strong ruby colour with a purple tinge. It gives a complex nose of cinnamon, cooked fruits and morello cherry. After a rich and firm attack, the mouth expresses vanilla and pepery aromas which persist to the final. It's a supple and rich wine with a very good length in mouth. The dominant grenache assure the « typicité CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE ». To accompany filets of red mullet in basil with baby vegetables sautéed in olive oil, Noisettes of lamb in parsley spelt with dried fruit and thyme sauce, Salmis of duck…..

A classic blend of 80% Grenache and 10% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape was bottled just six weeks before I tasted it at the domaine. It's loaded with raspberry fruit and hints of baking spices (30% of the blend ages in wood). Full-bodied, supple and lush, it's also concentrated, rich and velvety in texture, with notes of clove and cinnamon lingering on the finish.

Fresh and lively, with notes of black cherries, blackberries, scorched earth, and spice, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is concentrated and full-bodied, with a pure, elegant texture and a big finish. Based on 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, it has present tannin, notable purity of fruit, and is going to benefit from short-term cellaring and keep for 10-15 years.

Lurid ruby-red. Displays highly fragrant red fruit preserve, potpourri and garrigue aromas and subtle licorice and cracked pepper accents. Plush and expansive on the palate, offering alluringly sweet cherry, raspberry and spicecake flavors that tighten up steadily on the back half. Shows the power of the vintage but comes of nicely energetic and finishes extremely long, smooth and spicy, with fine-grained tannins lending subtle grip. This estate has also been a solid producer of elegant wines but this 2016 is a big step up and is easily the best bottling of Châteauneuf from them that I have ever experienced.
