Full-bodied and rich, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Haute Pierre combines red and black fruits with hints of leather, allspice and clove to create a complex, seamless whole. It's not flashy, oversized or oaky, just a solid, foudre-aged blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah that harkens back to healthy traditions.
Ripe but pristine blackberry and cassis are shaded by savory earth, white mushroom and bramble in this opulent, elegant wine. It's silky and sumptuous, with soft, chalky tannins and a lingering violet finish. Drink now-2028.
Attractive, rich and ripe raspberry and blackberry fruits with a fluid, smoothly-textured palate. Warms up with some oak spice through the finish. Supple and even.
