Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay 2017
|Region||California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley|
Fresh granny smith apples, floral and spice aromas dominate the nose; pink grapefruit, tangerine, citrus blossom, and apple pie flavors are balanced by a bit of wet stone. The oak influence creates a nice mid-palate, yet the wine still shows a balanced acidity that carries through the long finish.
Pairing: Cracked crab with drawn butter.
Well-structured, with a smoky richness to the mineral-infused apple and pear tart flavors. The fresh, spicy finish lingers with a creamy texture. Drink now through 2022.
The 2017 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard fermented 40% in stainless steel and 60% in barrels and was aged in 15% new French oak for six months. It opens with notes of toast, gunflint and smoke, giving way to red and yellow apples, honeycomb, kiwi and fresh, white stone fruits at the core. Light to medium-bodied, it's fresh and clean in the mouth with juicy acidity and a refreshing finish.
