Fritz Haag Juffer Riesling Trocken GG 2017
Wine EnthusiastLoads of orange and apple blossoms accent zesty lime and grapefruit flavors in this tart tantalizing wine. Dry in style with a zippy light-bodied palate, it's concentrated enough to penetrate through a long lingering mineral finish. An electric wine, it drinks well now but should gain depth through 2030.
Wine AdvocatePicked late, in the first half of October, and partly (one-third) vinified in doppelstück oak vats, the 2017 Brauneberg Juffer Riesling GG is clear, intense and fresh in its delicate mineral-slate bouquet that reveals ripe, elegant fruit intermixed with crushed stone and some floral aromas. Yeasty on the creamy-textured palate, this is a full-bodied, lush and elegant Riesling with generous fruit and a long, refined but structured finish. This is a great wine that can-and should-be cellared for many years. There are lovely crunchy-salty notes on the aftertaste. Tasted in March 2019.
Wine SpectatorThis delivers interesting aromas of saffron and chamomile, leading to flavors of slate, baked peach and white chocolate. Long and richly flavored, yet elegant and ethereal. Features a well-spiced finish, with a good sense of power. Should improve in several years. Best from 2021 through 2029. 650 cases made.
