Château-Haut-Bergey Pessac Leognan 2006
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Pessac-Leognan|
Consistently one of the top, under-the-radar wines of Pessac-Leognan, Haut-Bergey's beautiful 2006 boasts a deep ruby/purple hue as well as a classic bouquet of hot rocks intermixed with graphite, cassis, incense, and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied with noticeable but sweet tannin, impressive purity, and an alluring texture, it is relatively evolved for a 2006, so consumption over the next 15 years is recommended.
Barrel sample. Firm and dry, here is a wine that still offers plenty of ripe fruits. There are good blackcurrant flavors, along with the dry tannins that are as much wood as fruit driven.
Aromas of mineral, berries and green coffee bean. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and an impressive fruit finish. A little more in the center palate would make this outstanding. Well-made for the vintage. Best after 2011.
