Château-Tour-des-Termes Saint Estèphe 2015
|Region||France, Bordeaux, St. Estephe|
Named after an ancient tower on the estate that could once have been a lighthouse close the Gironde estuary, this estate remains family owned. This wine is rich in tannins as well as juicy black-currant fruit. Structured and concentrated, the wine has great potential. Drink from 2023.
Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Tour des Termes was probably the one wine that upended its showing in barrel. This is a completely different animal. It has quite a fragrant bouquet with raspberry, wild strawberry and subtle mineral scents that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp red and black fruit with a fine bead of acidity. It gently fans out toward the finish and completes a very commendable Cru Bourgeois. Tasted September 2017.
Focused and fresh, with pleasantly austere structure guiding a core of plum, bitter cherry and cassis fruit, laced with tobacco and warm stone details along the way. Best from 2019 through 2028. 6,667 cases made.
