Ken Wright Yamhill Carlton Pinot Noir 2019
Brooding and dark blackberry with hints of five spice, cocoa nibs and fresh honey. Open and inviting on the palate with flavors of chocolate and savory boysenberry.
Expressive and detailed, featuring a vibrant core of acidity and handsome tannins framed by cherry and tart blueberry flavors, with dusky spice accents that build tension toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2030.
Known for single-vineyard wines, Ken Wright is introducing a new set of AVA-specific Pinots. This wine is particularly significant, as Wright was the man behind the application for the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The flavors bring together blueberry fruit, clove spices, moderating acidity and a textural mouthfeel highlighted with refreshing wet rock minerality.
Dark violet. Pungent, spice-accented cherry, dark berries, flowers and a touch of licorice on the nose. Shows good heft as well as energy to the bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors, which steadily spread out through the back half. Fine-grained tannins shape a persistent finish that leaves cherry cola and cracked pepper notes behind. Best after 2024.
