Rocca Giovanni Barolo 2016
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Barolo|
A well-structured, long-lived wine with intense garnet red color. The aroma is intense and fruity with notes of cherry, prune and pleasant tones of cinnamon and toasted hazelnuts. The taste is austere, full, harmonious and pleasantly tannic, with a persistent finish.
Plum, cherry, iron, tar and eucalyptus flavors are layered over a dense matrix of tannins. This red is fresh and tense, with a slight edge to the tannins in the balance. Shows fine length. Best from 2025 through 2050. 680 cases made, 300 cases imported.
Aromas of dark-skinned berries, tilled soil and leather lead the way. The savory palate offers dried black cherry, star anise and cocoa alongside fine-grained tannins. Drink 2023-2031.
