Villa Matilde Falanghina 2020
|Region||Italy, Campania, Falanghina|
This wine is made from pure Falanghina from very old vines located 400 meters (1,310 feet) above sea level with volcanic soil mixed with grey tuff, cinder and black pumice stone. A lovely, easy-drinking wine with intense fruity and floral aromas, nuanced tropical fruit and white peach. Crisp and refreshing, it is meant to enjoyed in its youth, ideally in the first two years.
The 2020 Falanghina Rocca Dei Leoni lifts up sweetly scented yet delicate, like a basket of freshly picked apples mixed with sage and nuances of mint. It's soft-textured yet energetic, with notes of granny smith, lime and brisk acidity that maintains freshness. The cheeks pucker with sour citrus tension through the medium-length finale.
Warm yellow apple and pear fruit flavors are lightly spiced and floral in this lithe, light-bodied white, with hints of chalk and saline chiming in on the clean-cut finish. Drink now. 26,000 cases made, 4,000 cases imported.
