Schiavenza Barolo Perno 2021

Mint, orange and medicinal herb aromas and flavors define this succulent red. Accents of red berry fruit and earth lurk in the background. Starts out fluid but tightens up, with a broad swath of tannins gripping the finish. Best from 2029 through 2048. 393 cases made, 150 cases imported.

A complex and slightly evolved wine with blood oranges, leather, macerated flowers, balsamic and cinnamon aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, it shows ripe, dusty tannins and refreshing acidity, with an earthy, very savory aftertaste. A gastronomic wine.
