Crios Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Wine AdvocateBalbo's favorite grape after Torrontés is Cabernet, and she gives extra attention to the vineyard selection used for the 2015 Críos Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine's profile is that of an elegant, earthy and balanced red with nicely integrated spices from its nine months in used oak barriques and the herbal notes of the variety. When I first put my nose in the glass I thought they had done a new Cabernet Franc in the Críos range, such is the freshness and high-pitched fruit here. From this vintage on all the grapes are sourced from vineyards in the Valle de Uco, a place that provides good freshness to the wines and saw a much healthier crop than Luján for the variety in 2015. This has a profile with great austerity and freshness, with spices and herbal aromas and beautiful tannins. Simply superb. 90,000 bottles produced.
