Campogiovanni is an estate run by San Felice in Chianti Classico, and its 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Campogiovanni is a lovely, dark and savory wine to serve with a platter of fatty charcuterie and aged tomme cheese. The bouquet is elegant and linear, showing a pretty ensemble of dark fruit, cassis and dried cherry. This vintage is particularly well balanced, with soft spice and crisp acidity competing for your attention and keeping things bright and interesting. An ample 85,000 bottles were produced.

The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is a vibrant, fruit-filled expression with a burst of ripe cherries, strawberries and plums complemented by sweet spice. In the mouth, it's velvety, with dense waves of ripe red and black fruit berries that give way to balsam herbs and minerals. There doesn't appear to be a hard edge in sight as the 2017 tapers off only lightly structured and long, resonating on hints of licorice and dark inner florals.

Menthol and eucalyptus flavors are the main themes in this beefy red, exhibiting cherry, plum and iron notes. The tannins gain the upper hand in the end, leaving a dusty, mouth coating finish. Best from 2025 through 2037.
