Chateau Senejac Haut-Médoc 2019
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Haut Medoc|
51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot
A firm, chewy red with blackberry and light coffee character. Medium to full body. Solid structure.
The 2019 Sénéjac is a complex, beguiling Haut- Médoc. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, licorice, dried herbs, menthol, dried flowers and mint are some of the many aromas and flavors that lift from the glass. Sénéjac offers unreal complexity and tons of energy that continues to build through to a long, beautifully persistent finish laced with expressive savory top notes.
Extremely juicy cassis and enticing hedgerow here, this is bright, perky, less flesh on the bones than 2018 but with plenty of character. It settles in the glass, and you feel the build up of tannins. Will be interesting to taste in bottle, there is real potential here.
Vinified by Château Talbot's Jean-Michel Laporte, the 2019 Sénéjac delivers aromas of smoky blackberries, pencil shavings and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and charming palate framed by fine tannins and concluding with a saline, mouthwatering finish. It's a fine effort that comes recommended. Drink 2021 - 2039.
