Château-Les-Grands-Marechaux Premières Côtes de Blaye 2012
|Appellation||Prémieres Cotes de Blaye|
Wine AdvocateAnother of my favorite Petits Chateaux is Le Grands Marechaux from Blaye. This lovely 2012 is dense ruby/purple, with plump black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, good flesh, a complete mouthfeel from beginning to end, ripe tannin and a long, heavy finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. A sleeper of the vintage.
Wine SpectatorOffers a soft, fleshy feel, with a cocoa frame wrapped around plum, blackberry and tobacco notes, rolling through a charcoal-tinted finish. Drink now through 2017. 5,000 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastThe wine is perfumed, spicy with dense tannins. It has a hard-edged structure, tough with the ripe fruit still underneath. Vines are an average of 14 years old.
